It’s been a full month! so sorry! (nobody cares) Absolutely mortifying of me to keep doing this, but here I am. Honestly it’s been a bummer of a Summer for me. Summers are so stressful because it feels impossible to curl up in your little room and be alone when the days are 178 hours long and everyone else is having more fun than you. I’ve become very good at managing my depression. Here are some tips:
bleach your eyebrows for 7 days and then panic and box dye them back because people honestly weren’t acting as enamored by your cool new look as you were expecting & your mom is spontaneously visiting and you don’t want her to be mean about it.
search “long gloves women fancy” on amazon.com/shop and go absolutely wild on your parents’ account (sorry parents)
write 6 overly emotional very very bad first verses of songs, two of them might be worth finishing.
consider buying groceries for the next day every night as you are falling asleep and then proceed to order seamless or go out to eat for every meal. planning a grocery list will soothe you and give you a false sense of control. plus it’s the thought that counts, right?
send a couple flirty drunken texts and then make out with someone you have no business making out with. fun to feel like you have the option to take your life in a totally random direction if you wanted to!
every time you go to a party, corner each of your friends/friends of friends/strangers etc. for as long as they will let you to go over every detail about the specific situation you’re in romantically. If they haven’t found a polite way to wiggle out of the conversation yet, look them deep in the eye and ask, “so, what should I do?” They won’t have anything helpful to say, but keeping everyone updated will make you feel supported somehow.
watch Barbra Streisand (who you share a birthday with, thank you) be amazing in “The Way We Were” and “Funny Girl.”
watch your best friend play a sold out show at Brooklyn Steel and think about how insane life is that you’ve been in bands together since you were 10, friends since you were born, and even though you don’t think you’ll ever feel satisfied or financially secure in following your passion, take a moment to be happy that you’ve both accomplished so much more than you really even thought was possible already.
discover that ordering an (extra extra dirty) gin martini (w extra olives) instead of vodka actually makes it totally bearable, even kind of good. spend at least one night a week drinking them and smoking little ciggies with a group of girls.
make your bed every morning. this is actually a real one. it changes everything.
Ultimately though, nothing is new and probably I’ll get an exciting email tomorrow or something and be in an amazing mood for three weeks. If you’re worried definitely don’t be.
THE VINYLS ARE HERE! This is possibly the most exciting thing that has ever happened to me. They look STUNNING. I am so thrilled, so excited to write everyone little personalized notes and send <3 If you haven’t pre-ordered yet, there’s still time. Doing this all so so so DIY, we are waiting on special shipping boxes so we can send them out individually, but they’re coming soon, I swear.
If you want to listen to me talk more absolute nonsense I was on the sipper pod a few weeks ago.
If you want to catch a show in NYC next week we are playing at The Sultan Room roof on August 31st with my friends Annie Blackman and Work Wife! I’m gonna wear a wacky outfit I think and we are also going to be selling records and T Shirts there! We go on promptly at 7:30 PM though, so don’t be late.
If you don’t live in NYC and want to see us on tour next month, that actually works out perfectly because we are going on tour next month!!!
I also made a little better late then never vlog of our SXSW trip in from March which made me miss that time a lot, but also made me feel excited to make new memories on the road.
love you!
So well done!
